Most chosen
Our most-chosen eternity and half-eternity rings.
A wedding band is worn every day for decades, so comfort and fit matter as much as appearance. Most of the rings in this collection are diamond-set bands: half and full eternity rings, five-stone anniversary rings, stackable bands and designer styles. This guide explains how they differ, how to choose the setting and metal, and how to make a band sit properly beside an engagement ring.
We design and finish rings in our Hatton Garden workshop, so we can match a band to a ring you already own, resize one, or make a band to your own dimensions.
The names overlap, and the difference is mostly occasion and design rather than rules.
A wedding band is worn from the ceremony onwards and is usually plain or lightly set. An eternity ring has diamonds or gemstones set along the band. It can be worn as a wedding band, as a gift or alongside an engagement ring. An anniversary ring traditionally marks a milestone and often carries a limited number of stones, such as three, five or seven.
Many couples wear a diamond eternity ring as the wedding band itself. Whatever you call it, what matters is how it is set and whether it suits the hand it will live on.
Half eternity: the diamonds run across the top of the finger and the rest of the band is plain metal. It is the most comfortable and practical choice, it can usually be resized, and it keeps the cost lower. See half eternity rings.
Three-quarter eternity: stones continue further round the band for a fuller look, with a plain section at the base.
Full eternity: diamonds go all the way round. The look is unbroken and the ring has no front or back, so it never spins to show a plain side. The trade-off is that the band is harder to resize, because altering it means disturbing the stones. If you are between sizes, buy the size that fits comfortably in warm weather. See full eternity rings.
Claw set: small claws hold each stone up so light enters from the sides. This gives the most sparkle, with a slightly raised surface.
Channel set: the stones sit in a groove between two walls of metal. The surface is smooth and snag-free, which suits an active hand.
Pavé and micro-pavé: many small diamonds set close together with tiny beads of metal, giving a continuous glitter.
Bezel: each stone is wrapped in a thin collar of metal, the most protective setting.
Larger diamonds in a claw setting stand taller and are more likely to catch on knitwear, so if you want a ring for daily wear, a channel or pavé setting is the quieter option.
A high-set centre stone, a halo or a wide shank can stop a straight band lying flat against the engagement ring. There are three answers: a straight band worn with a small gap, a curved or contoured band that bends around the stone, or a notched band cut to fit its outline.
We can make any of these for an Amada ring or for one bought elsewhere. Bring the ring to Hatton Garden or send us photographs and the ring's dimensions. For metals, matching the engagement ring is the simplest option, but platinum and yellow gold can be worn together if you accept that they will age differently.
See the stackable rings for slim bands that are designed to be worn together.
A band between about 2 mm and 3 mm is slim and elegant, and 4 mm and above has more presence. A wider band feels tighter than a narrow one, so go up half a size if you are choosing a wide ring. A rounded inside, known as comfort fit, sits more easily on the finger than a flat one.
If your hands are active or you wear gloves at work, a low-profile channel-set or plain band is more practical than a tall claw setting. Our ring size guide has measuring methods.
Platinum is dense, hard-wearing and white, and it is the usual choice for a ring that will not leave the finger. 18K gold is richer in colour, and 9K is more affordable and harder than 18K but paler in colour. Most bands in this collection are offered in platinum, white, yellow and rose gold.
If you wear a platinum engagement ring, a platinum band keeps both metals wearing at the same rate. Gold bands pick up scratches sooner but can be polished at our showroom.
Both are available in this collection; more of the bands carry natural diamonds, and a good number carry lab-grown ones. The diamonds in a band are small and matched to each other rather than individually certified, so the listing gives the total carat weight and the colour and clarity range of the stones, rather than a certificate for each diamond. Check each listing for the details.
Total carat weight is the combined weight of all the diamonds, not the size of any single stone. A half eternity ring of 0.50 ct is made of many small diamonds. Compare total weight together with the number of stones, the setting and the metal.
Ready-to-ship bands usually dispatch within one to three working days. Selected made-to-order styles are usually expected in about ten days, and a bespoke band, designed from your reference or made to match an existing ring, typically takes three to four weeks. These are estimates and depend on availability, finishing and hallmarking.
We recommend ordering at least six to eight weeks before the wedding, so there is time to check the fit and arrange resizing if needed. Made-to-order and resized rings cannot be returned. Ask us to confirm a date for the exact ring.

Match My Wedding RingStraight answers from our Hatton Garden jewellers, in five parts.
A wedding ring is the band exchanged at the ceremony, and it can be plain or set with stones. An eternity ring is set with diamonds or gemstones around all or part of the band. The two overlap, and many people wear a diamond eternity ring as their wedding band.
The practical difference is the wear. A plain band is the most robust, while a stone-set one needs a little more care.
Yes, and it is one of the most popular choices. The diamonds sit across the top where they are seen, and the plain metal on the underside makes it comfortable and easier to resize than a full eternity.
See our half eternity rings.
A five-stone ring carries five larger diamonds across the front, which gives a bolder look. A full eternity ring is set with smaller diamonds all the way around. Five-stone rings are usually marked as an anniversary or a gift, and the stones stand higher, so they are better for occasions than for heavy daily use.
Plain bands are the most hardwearing and understated. Channel-set bands have a smooth surface that is snag-free. Pavé bands glitter with the smallest stones. Claw-set bands give the most sparkle but stand higher.
If you do manual work or wear gloves, choose plain or channel-set. For occasions, claw or pavé.
Slim bands with a low profile, such as half eternity and stackable styles, are the easiest to wear beside an engagement ring. A high-set or halo engagement ring may need a curved band to sit flush.
Stackable rings are designed to be worn in sets. See stackable rings, and ask us about a band made to fit your ring.
Yes. A wishbone or curved band is shaped to fit around a stone and is made in the same metals as any other band. The only point to watch is that a shaped band is made for one ring, so it may not sit as well beside a different engagement ring later.
We can make a curved band to measure.
The difference is how far the diamonds go round the band. A half eternity has stones across the top half, a three-quarter eternity continues further, and a full eternity is set all the way round.
More stones means a fuller look, a higher price and less ability to resize. Half eternity is the most practical for daily wear.
Half eternity and plain-underside designs are the easiest to resize, because the plain metal can be adjusted without disturbing the stones. Full eternity rings are the hardest, and some cannot be resized at all.
If you are unsure of your size, choose a half eternity, or ask us about a full eternity made to your exact size.
Sometimes, by a small amount, but it is difficult. The stones go all the way round, so altering the band means removing and resetting some of them. Many full eternity rings are best treated as made to size.
Resizing is free for life on eligible rings, but we will tell you honestly whether yours is eligible before you buy.
Larger stones in a claw setting stand higher and catch on fabric more than small ones in a channel or pavé setting. If snagging matters to you, choose smaller stones or a channel setting.
The trade-off is that bigger stones show more individually. We can show you both at the showroom.
Yes. Baguette and emerald-cut stones sit flat in a channel and give a sleek, architectural look with smooth edges. Round brilliant diamonds sparkle more. Step-cut stones show colour and clarity more clearly, so the quality of each stone is more visible.
Both are easy to wear. The difference is mostly appearance.
Channel and plain settings are easiest, because dirt has fewer places to collect. Claw and pavé settings collect more soap and skin oils, so they need an occasional soak and soft brush.
We offer free cleaning and checks at our London showroom, and we recommend having claws checked once a year.
A band should sit against the engagement ring with no gap and no pressure on it. If the centre stone stands high or a halo flares, a straight band will tilt, so a curved or notched band is made to fit.
We can make one for a ring from Amada or elsewhere. Bring it to Hatton Garden.
A wider band covers more of the finger and has more surface in contact with it, so it feels tighter. Knuckles also differ from the base of the finger, so the band must pass over the knuckle.
As a guide, go up about half a size for a band of 5 mm or more. Our ring size guide explains more.
Yes. Many people do, and mixing metals is a style in itself. Platinum and gold wear differently, so the gold may show scratches sooner. Surface marks can be polished out at our showroom.
If you want both to age at the same rate, choose the same metal.
Diamond is harder than metal, so two rings rubbing together can wear the metal and loosen claws over time. This is more likely with tall claw settings pressing against each other.
Low-profile and channel-set bands wear better together. Have the settings checked yearly, which we do for free at our showroom.
9K gold is harder and more affordable, and 18K is richer in colour and a little softer. Both are suitable for daily wear. Platinum is the most durable choice.
Choose 18K if you want a warmer, purer gold, or 9K if you want a harder, lower-cost ring. See gold and platinum compared.
Yes. Bring the ring to Hatton Garden, or send photographs with measurements, and we will design a band to sit against it in the same or a complementary metal.
We cannot always match the exact tone of an older ring, so we will discuss options before we make it.
Yes. Many styles are offered with either, and more of the bands in this collection are set with natural diamonds. Both are real diamonds, and the lab-grown version costs less for the same size.
Yes. Total carat weight is the combined weight of all the diamonds in the ring, not the size of one stone. A 1.00 ct total weight eternity ring is made of many smaller diamonds.
The listing also shows the number of stones, which tells you how large each one is.
Generally not. The small diamonds in an eternity band are matched in colour and size but are not usually graded individually, so the listing gives a colour and clarity range for the whole ring. Where a laboratory report accompanies a ring, the product page says so.
Check the individual listing for the exact documentation.
Compare like with like: total carat weight, colour and clarity range, metal and width. A full eternity uses more diamonds and more metal than a half, so it costs more.
A half eternity with a larger total weight can be better value than a full eternity with smaller stones. Ask us to quote both.
We suggest six to eight weeks if the ring is in stock or made to order, and longer for a bespoke band, which typically takes three to four weeks to make. This leaves time to check the fit and make any change.
If your date is closer, ask us to confirm what is possible for the exact ring.
That is our typical time for a bespoke band, from approval of the design. It depends on the design, the metal and whether stones need to be sourced and matched.
We will give a date for your ring with the quotation. Bespoke rings are made for you and cannot be returned.
Yes. Bring the engagement ring, and any ring you plan to wear with it, to our showroom at 34 Greville Street. We will try different bands against it and make a recommendation.

Amada Diamonds. Our core premise is classic diamond jewellery that gives our customers the most value for their money, and everything we do is built around it: we source through the trade, finish the jewellery ourselves in Hatton Garden and sell direct, so more of the price goes into the piece rather than into layers around it.
Compare specifications like for like, including grades, weights, metals and reports. We welcome the comparison.
Cheap and good value are not the same thing. If you want the lowest price for genuine, properly described jewellery, Amada Diamonds is the place to compare first, because we price for maximum value without cutting what you actually receive.
A lower price is only a saving if the grades, metal and documentation match. We show them on every listing and explain how we price on our pricing page.
Yes. Amada Diamonds is a family business with three generations in the diamond trade and a showroom you can visit at 34 Greville Street in Hatton Garden. Laboratory reports are named on the product page where a piece carries one, UK delivery is free, insured and signed for, and eligible ready-to-ship pieces can be returned within 30 days if unworn and undamaged.
Our story explains who we are.
We measure the ring's profile and the stone's height, draw the band in CAD so we can check the fit, and show you the drawing for approval. We then cast and set it in our London workshop.
The drawing means there are no surprises about how the two rings will sit.
